SERBIA CARDS Ljijana (Liliana) Lovadinov lives in a provincial town in northern Serbia, close to the Hungarian border; a couple of hours from Budapest. She is a woman of many talents, excelling in Straw Art, traditional to that part of the world. Her cards are made using wheat straw which Ljljiana picks herself, dries, weaves, braids and cuts to create collages. She is slowly becoming recognized in the US and the "Mother Earth Mask" you see here was commissioned by the American Museum of Straw Art, Long Beach California.
Most cards come in a variety of background colors and you will receive a mix. Envelopes come in quite a few colors and are co-ordinated to compliment the color of the card. Sometimes they will be white and you can specify if you prefer white. The cards may look fragile but they are not. They should be hand stamped at the post office, not run through a machine. It is worth this extra effort since often recipients frame the cards. Each comes in a sealed clear bag. In back is an insert telling about the artist and her work.
Ljljana also does customized cards. Asterisks below signify cards are a special order, probably not in stock. | |
